CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Iowa's sparkling winemakers will face off in the first ever "Flight of the Corks" on Friday, Feb. 27.

Participants will attempt to break a record by seeing whose corks will fly the farthest.

The event will take place at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.

In the two-round event, winemakers will shoot their corks from a fixed table inside Washington Hall on the college's main campus.

Judges will measure each round to determine a winner.

The "Flight of the Corks" begins at 7 p.m.
