CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A man wanted by police has been found and he's racking up new charges.

James Surrett is now facing harassment, assault, and false imprisonment charges for allegedly beating a woman which allegedly happened after he posted bond to get out of jail in an unrelated case.

Surrett is facing multiple charges after authorities say he led them on a high speed chase then crashed into multiple vehicles including a school bus. After his first appearance in court this month, Surrett posted bond and was out of jail. Then authorities couldn't find him when new charges came in the case.

Now Surrett is the suspect in another case for things he allegedly did after bonding out of jail. Police say Surrett assaulted a woman in a Cedar Rapids home for hours; grabbing her hair, hitting her face and body, confining her against her will, and injecting her with a substance that was likely some sort of drug.

According to court documents, Surrett has threatened the woman before. She filed for relief from domestic abuse after she says he threatened her when she tried to end their romantic relationship. The woman said last month she feared for her safety but the court order protecting her was canceled when she and Surrett both failed to show up for their court date in January.

In a court hearing Tuesday morning, a judge set bond at $20,000 on the assault case plus $15,000 based on the charges following the crash. That's on top of the  $10,000 Surrett already paid to bond out earlier this month.

The judge also issued a no contact order so if Surrett posts bond on these charges he is not allowed to try to speak to the victim of the assault.
