WASHBURN (KWWL) -

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office says loose wheels are to blame for a crash in Washburn this afternoon.

Deputies were called to the 6600 block of La Porte Road in Washburn on Monday after it was reported a car had crashed into tires that came off of a passing truck.

Deputies arrived to find a car driven by 56-year-old Lori Sliekers of La Porte City in the ditch. Deputies say Sliekers was headed north on La Porte Road when the dual tires on a trailer came loose and hit her car head-on. The southbound truck was being driven by 55-year-old Garrett Oliphant of Rowley.  The truck is owned by Nuti Jet Corp of Hudson.

Sliekers was taken to Covenant Medical Center. Her condition has not been released.
