Dickerson cleared to leave Iowa

University of Iowa men's basketball player Trey Dickerson has been granted a full release from his scholarship so he can transfer to another school.

Hawkeye head coach Fran McCaffery announced the decision on today. 

“We appreciate the contributions Trey made during his time here,” McCaffery said in a written statement. “Trey has a bright future, and we wish him all the best moving forward.”

Dickerson, who came to Iowa after one season at Williston State in North Dakota, plans on finishing this semester of classes before transferring.

The 6-foot tall sophomore point guard played in 15 games for the Hawkeyes, averaging 2.7 points, 1.2 assists, and 0.5 rebounds.

“I appreciate the staff and Hawkeye nation for showing me love,” Dickerson said in a written statement. “I enjoyed my time here by I have to do what's best for me.”

The University of Iowa did not say where Dickerson plans to go.
