A new study released by analysts at Bankrate.com says that almost 40% of Americans could be in trouble when it comes to a financial emergency. The study found that 37 out of 100 have credit card debt that's equal to or greater than the amount of money they have saved for emergencies.
The study notes that the most people in that category are between 30 and 49; people in that age group typically have more expenses that come with mortgage payments and raising kids.
Bankrate says it isn't all that bad because more Americans feel secure in the jobs than before. This year, about 24 percent of people feel their jobs are safe vs. just 12 percent from the same time last year.
