Iowa native wins Oscar

Posted: Updated:
Sunday was a big night for Iowa native Don Hall.  The director from Glenwood, Iowa won an Oscar for his work on 'Big Hero 6.'

That movie took the prize for Best Animated Feature.  'Big Hero 6' is an adaptation of the Marvel comic.  It was considered an underdog after 'How to Train Your Dragon 2' took home the Golden Globe in January.

Hall has been working as an animator at Disney for nearly 20 years after graduating from University of Iowa.

When accepting the award Hall said, "Once upon a time there was a freckle-faced little boy who told his mom and his dad that one day he was going to work at Walt Disney Animation, and they did something amazing: They supported him and believed in him, and from the bottom of his heart, he thanks them."

'Big Hero 6' is currently in theaters.
