DES MOINES (KWWL) -

An Iowa high school wrestler carted from Wells Fargo Arena during the state wrestling tournament has been released from the hospital.

Tayler Pettit was discharged from Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines Sunday evening.

In a statement, his family says Tayler collapsed after wrestling due to Wolf-Parkinson-White Syndrome - which originates from an extra electrical pathway in the heart which results in a rapid heart rate.

They say doctors believe Tayler could have had the condition since birth.

He had a procedure Friday to reduce any potential problems in the future.

He is expected to return to athletics and play soccer this Spring at Creston/Orient-Macksburg.
