BURLINGTON (KWWL) - Burlington Police say investigators have received preliminary autopsy results in the homicide investigation that began Feb. 16.

The results from the University of Iowa indicate that Deonte Carter died from multiple gunshots to his upper torso.

In the course of the investigation, police have also found a black SUV they've been searching for, that was present at the time of the incident. The vehicle has been taken to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Crime Lab in Ankeny for further analysis.

The Burlington Police Department thanks the community for citizen involvement, as tips and information via social media has been an integral part of the investigation.

The circumstances that led to the shooting death of Carter and additional details will be released as they become available.
