Iowa State goes back to back on the road with win over Texas

AUSTIN, Texas (KWWL) -

Georges Niang and Matt Thomas each scored 17 as 14th ranked Iowa State defeated Texas 85-77. The win marked the first time in 9 years that the Cyclones won back to back games on the road. Iowa State won at Oklahoma State earlier in the week.

Thomas, who had struggled at times this season, hit a pair of consecutive 3 pointers in the second half to swing the momentum Iowa State's way down the stretch. Iowa State never trailed after an 8-0 run put them up 35-31 in the first half.

The win keeps ISU within a game of conference leading Kansas.

After spending the week on the road, the Cyclones return home to face Baylor on Wednesday night.
