WATERLOO (AP) -

Defense attorneys have rested their case in the trial of an Iowa woman accused of killing her husband and his girlfriend more than 30 years ago.

Following one day of testimony from five witnesses, the defense concluded its case Wednesday in Waterloo pending testimony from an additional witness in the trial of 54-year-old Theresa Supino.

Supino was arrested in March in connection with the 1983 slayings of Steven Fisher and Melisa Gregory, whose bodies were found on the Copper Dollar Ranch near Newton.

Supino has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges.

The Newton Daily News reports the defense can still examine the ranch's former co-owner if he arrives from Florida.

Closing arguments are expected to begin Thursday, and the case will then be sent to jurors for deliberation.
