WATERLOO (AP) -

Defense attorneys for an Iowa woman accused of killing her husband and his girlfriend more than 30 years ago are scheduled to begin calling witnesses.

Prosecutors rested their case Tuesday in the trial of 54-year-old Theresa Supino following 9 days of testimony from nearly 40 witnesses in Waterloo.

Supino was arrested in March in connection with the 1983 slayings of Steven Fisher and Melisa Gregory, whose bodies were found on the Copper Dollar Ranch northwest of Newton.

Supino has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges.

The Newton Daily News reports that the defense is expected to call about 12 people to the stand, including the family member with whom Supino was staying the night of the murders.

Prosecution ended following a viewing of the trailer where Gregory died.
