CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - A new bill in the Iowa Legislature would allow up to two more casinos in Iowa -- but they'd have to be smoke-free.

Monday state lawmakers introduced a bill that would create a process for the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission to grant up to two licenses for smoke-free casinos.

Those interested in a license would have to apply by August 1, 2015. Counties would  have to adopt resolutions approving the application.

The bill also requires the IRGC to do an annual report on the impact of the smoke-free casinos.

This comes after the IRGC said no to a Linn County gaming license in April 2014. In December, Cedar Rapids Mayor Ron Corbett announced that lawmakers would work on a series of gaming changes in Iowa, including a smoke-free casino license for Linn County.
