Hawkeye wrestlers dominate Virginia at national duals

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -  The top ranked Iowa wrestlers left little doubt, rolling past #13 Virginia 30-6 in the regional round of the NWCA National Duals.

Iowa recorded bonus points in 4 matches to improve their record to 15-0 on the season.

After falling at 125 pounds, Iowa responded with 4 straight wins. Second ranked Brandon Sorenson provided the biggest spark picking up the only pin of the day. Sorenson dispatched the Cavaliers' Gus Sako in the 3rd period at 149 pounds. Iowa got another big boost at 174 where Alex Meyer upset 6th ranked Blaise Butler 9-8.

Iowa will host the final rounds of the duals on February 21-22. Opponents will be announced on Tuesday.
