TORONTO (KWWL) -

A recent Coe College graduate has been arrested in connection to a foiled plot of a Valentine's Day massacre at a mall in Nova Scotia.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police say Lindsay Kantha Souvannarath, 23, and two other people were planning to kill as many people at the Halifax Shopping Center, before killing themselves.

Authorities say Souvannarath confessed to the plot.

Coe College spokesperson Rod Pritchard says Souvannarath enrolled as a student at Coe College the fall semester of 2010.

She graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, double majoring in English and creative writing.

Police say a 20-year-old Nova Scotia man and Souvannarath have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, according to the Associated Press.

AP reports that a third person, a 19-year-old man,  shot himself after authorities surrounded his Halifax suburban home.

Souvannarath and 20-year old man was taken into custody at the Halifax airport.

Canadian Justice Minister Peter MacKay says it appears the plot was the work of "a group of murderous misfits," rather than terrorism.
