Battle of the #1s: Gladbrook-Reinbeck tops Aplington-Parkersburg

In a game of punch and counter-punch, Gladbrook-Reinbeck, 1A's top ranked team, landed the final blow knocking off Aplington-Parkersburg, #1 in 2A, 62-54 in a battle of unbeatens. The Rebels rallied from a 7 point fourth quarter deficit, finishing the game on a 15-0 run.

Cam Kickbush led the way with 17 points. Four different Rebels reached double-figures in the ball game.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck ended a back and forth first half strong. Kickbush beat the buzzer on the fastbreak to put the Rebels up 33-31 at the half.

The Falcons countered late in the game with a flurry from Ross Cooper. The senior slammed home an alley-oop from Jake Schipper for a 48-45 lead. Minutes later, Cooper was fouled on a jumper, completing a 3 point play. The Falcons would lead 54-47 with just over 6 minutes left to go. They would not score again down the stretch.

Nick Ellis led A-P with 17 points. Cooper added 13 along with 15 rebounds.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck finished the regular season 21-0. The Falcons ended at 20-1.
