WATERLOO (AP) -

A man has been convicted in the death of a 2-year-old Waterloo girl who authorities say had gotten so cold she died.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier says a jury found 38-year-old Nathaniel Knight guilty on Monday of child endangerment resulting in death. Authorities say Knight had been babysitting little Kennadi Porter on the night she died in March 2013.

Knight, who was a friend of Kennadi's mother, told authorities he gave Kennadi a bath, put her to bed and discovered she wasn't breathing when he checked on her later. Prosecutors say there is no way the child could have gotten so cold in a heated house.

Prosecutors say it's likely Knight put the girl in an unheated porch while he cleaned up after she'd soiled herself and him.
