IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Iowa City Police say a Craigslist sale led to an armed robbery near the intersection Court and Linn Streets just after 11 o'clock Sunday morning.

Shawn Knepp, the victim says he made arrangements to meet the prospective buyer from a post he placed on Craigslist to sell a remote controlled toy car for $600

"Put an add on Craigslist to sell one of my RC cars, I've been building them for a long time so I've got some really nice one," said Knepp. "Guy wanted to buy it, pulled a gun and tried to rob me."

Police say the victim pistol-whipped Knepp and attempted to steal the toy car.

A physical altercation ensued and the suspect fled after striking the victim in the head with the gun, but the robber did not get away with the toy car.

"You know, I followed him down to the corner, I grabbed a hold of him, I told him he's not taking my stuff," said Knepp. "He turned around hit me with a gun and I grabbed him from the back, threw him to the ground. "A lot of weight on me, so he tried to push me around pretty good."

Knepp suffered minor injuries to his head, but refused medical attention because he says he doesn't have insurance.

The suspect was described as a heavyset white male of shorter stature, possible 5'4" tall. He was clean shaven with shaggy brown hair. He was wearing jeans and a brown or orange coat or sweatshirt and white or green t-shirt.

He was last seen running westbound on Court Street in the area of Dubuque Street. Officers canvassed the area, but were unable to locate him.

Although police haven't caught the suspect, Sgt. Denise Brotherton on scene tells KWWL they don't believe the public is in any danger.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Iowa City Police Investigations Unit.
