Sunday's edition of The Steele Report will feature four guests, and focus on military issues and helping Iowa veterans.

The show airs Sunday morning at 10, right after Meet The Press. It will also be posted on kwwl.com later Sunday.

The KWWL weekly half-hour news and public affairs program will welcome Kandie Vaughn, whose son, Travis Vaughn, died in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan in 2007.

Kandie will talk about coping with the loss of a loved one in war. Nearly 100-Iowans have died in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Kandie will also remind everyone of an annual Kandies Kidz event coming up February 14, which has helped hundreds of Iowa veterans the past seven years.

In addition, Scott Dewey, President of Retrieving Freedom, will be on the show to talk about his non-profit, veterans support organization,

Retrieving Freedom trains service dogs for veterans, and for children with autism. Retrieving Freedom is based in Waverly.

Vietnam veteran, Bob Sable, is a recipient of a Retrieving Freedom service dog.  The former U.S. Marine talks about his experiences in war and how his new service dog, Bones, helps him and other veterans deal with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Also appearing on the program will be former U.S. Marine, Matt Hatala, who served our nation in both of the recent wars. Matt experienced tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. His candid view of coming back home is an eye opener on the show.

That's 10 a.m. Sunday, February 8, right after Meet The Press.

Next week, Sunday, February 15, The Steele Report will take a look at Iowa's latest drug control policies. In the face of escalating prescription drug use and ongoing problems with heroin and meth, Iowa looks for new ways to deal with and control drug use and criminal activity.
