UPDATE: Fire destroys Edgewood auto stop

Posted: Updated:
EDGEWOOD (KWWL) -

An early-morning fire has destroyed an Edgewood business.

The fire started at Edgewood Auto & Tire before 4:00 a.m. Friday.  No one was hurt.

The owner is in Mexico, but is on his way back to eastern Iowa.

Firefighters were using a crane to knock down some of the walls after the fire when they hit a gas line.  They say the public was not in any danger, but they had to take a break to wait for crews to show up to deal with the gas leak.

Firefighters are still looking into what caused the fire.

The fire started at Edgewood Auto and Tire early Friday morning.
