WATERLOO (KWWL) - "A lot is unknown about Angelman Syndrome, but we do know that he's happy," said Amy Gonzalez.

Mason Gonzalez is certainly happy, but sometimes something simple like grocery shopping doesn't make mom, Amy Gonzalez happy.

"When every time I go grocery shopping, it's frustrating for me," said Amy Gonzalez.

Because of Mason's disorder, he can't walk on his own yet, so he travels with an adaptive stroller. Just grocery shopping, Amy would have to push her shopping cart, along with pulling Mason's stroller.

A couple of weeks ago, the Crossroads HyVee in Waterloo purchased The Caroline Cart. It was made for older children and adults with special needs.

Gonzalez stumbled upon the Caroline Cart on the internet. She works at the Crossroads HyVee. When she approached her store manager about buying the cart, it was an easy decision.

"You know we had a couple regular customers not only Amy who have some children, older children even with special needs and we see them in here pushing a wheel chair and pulling a grocery cart so it makes a kind of easy decision to try to make their lives easy because they've been difficult, down a difficult road," said Kim Jaber, Crossroads HyVee Store Director.
