DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Dubuque's DuRide, a non-profit organization that provides transportation for people 65 and older who can no longer drive, gave its 50,000 ride this week.

The organization started in 2008, and gave 57 rides in its first year.  They've grown exponentially since then, giving nearly 12,000 rides in 2014.

Their 50,000 ride was given Monday afternoon.

They also rely heavily on volunteers.  In 2008, they had just 16 volunteers, but now have more than 150 people who volunteer to give rides each week.  They are available to give rides seven days a week, 365 days a year.

And they're always looking for more volunteers.

If you're interested, you can call 563-451-4999 or visit www.duride.org.
