CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Cedar Falls city plows continue to clean up snow from Sunday's storm, even as one area of concern pointed out by viewers is a stark difference of road conditions on University Avenue between Cedar Falls and Waterloo.

The Waterloo side of University Avenue is maintained by the Iowa Department of Transportation. On the other hand, this is the first winter that the Cedar Falls side is maintained by the city, and not the IDOT.

Brian Heath from Cedar Falls Public Works says city plows were working on University Avenue on Sunday and each day since the new layer of snow.

Heath says the main difference in road condition is that IDOT plows can exclusively focus on clearing main roads until they are "bare pavement," while city plows do not have that luxury.

Heath says in addition to clearing University Avenue, city plows have to also take care of arterial and residential streets.
