Trial in Waterloo for 1983 murder case

Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) - Jury selection for the trial of an Iowa woman accused of killing her husband and his girlfriend more than 30 years ago is scheduled to begin Monday afternoon in Waterloo.

54-year-old Theresa "Terri" Supino is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the 1983 slayings of Steven Fisher and Melisa Gregory. Their bodies were found at Copper Dollar Ranch northwest of Newton. Supino has pleaded not guilty.

Supino was married to Fisher at the time of his death, but the couple had separated.

The trial was moved to Black Hawk County after a judge ruled there would be substantial prejudice against Supino if her trial were held in Jasper County.

Authorities arrested Supino in March 2014, and announced the arrest 31 years to the day after the bodies were found.  A few years ago, Supino announced that she was writing a book about her theories on how the couple was killed.
