EVANSDALE (KWWL) - A news conference is planned today in Evansdale to update the public on the investigation of the Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins abduction and murder case.

Evansdale Police Chief Ken Smock says they plan to release some specific information related to the case later today.

The press conference will be held at 10 a.m. KWWL plans to be there and stream the conference live on KWWL, KWWL.com/live and on the KWWL mobile app.

As KWWL previously reported, Smock and lead DCI agent Mike Roehrkasse went to Alexandria, Virginia, to meet with officials at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children -- and KWWL went with them.

Lyric and Elizabeth were riding their bikes near Myers Lake in Evansdale on July 13, 2012, when they were abducted. Nearly five months later, their bodies were found by hunters at Seven Bridges Park in Bremer County.

More than two years later, no one has been arrested in connection with the case.

Smock and Roehrkasse presented to a group of about 25 experts, including the FBI, NCIS, and U.S. Marshals Office. They laid out where the investigation is at now, while getting feedback from the experts on where to go next.
