#20 Iowa women fall short at 5th ranked Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (KWWL) -

 Iowa gave Maryland a scare, but the 5th ranked Terrapins surged late to hold off the Hawkeyes' upset bid 93-88.

Ally Disterhoft led 4 Iowa players in double digits with 22 points. Melissa Dixon kept up her sharpshooting, adding 18 on 4 of 8 shooting from the 3 point line.

Maryland's Lexie Brown led the Terrapins effort with 26 points.

Iowa surged out of the gate to an 8-0 lead behind a pair of three-pointers from Dixon and Sam Logic.  The Hawkeyes would later take a 45-44 lead in to the half.

Iowa and Maryland traded buckets over the next 13 minutes, but the Terrapins took the lead for good with a 6-0 run with just over 6 minutes remaining.

The win was the 13th straight for Maryland and snapped a streak of 7 in a row by the Hawkeyes.
