Iowa dad pleads guilty in persuading daughter to rob bank

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) -- A Davenport man has pleaded guilty to persuading his daughter to rob a bank for him.

The Quad-City Times reports Albert Griebe pleaded guilty Thursday to conspiracy to commit bank robbery and aiding and abetting an attempted bank robbery. He will be sentenced in April.

According to the plea agreement, 45-year-old Griebe admitted to talking his 23-year-old daughter, Mercedes Griebe, into robbing a U.S. Bank in July.

Authorities say Griebe's daughter failed in robbing the bank on her first try, because she was too scared to do it. Griebe talked to her again, and she succeeded in robbing the bank on a second try by passing a note to a teller that demanded money.

Mercedes Griebe pleaded guilty to second-degree theft in October.
