Elizabeth Collins' family reflects on daughter's case

Posted: Updated:

More than two years have passed, and Drew and Heather Collins are still waiting for that phone call.

"We're like, in limbo," says Drew.

They keep memories of their daughter, Elizabeth, throughout their Evansdale home.

They remind themselves to never give up on finding Lyric and Elizabeth's killer, and in life in general.

They not only have to deal with their own grief, but they have to protect their children too.

"It can be kind of a roller coaster for them," says Drew. "Getting excited about something like this, hoping there is something that will come of it. We've been on that roller coaster before."

Their six-year-old daughter still plays with Elizabeth's Barbies, and their 15-year-old son remembers exactly what she was like.

"If Callie is doing something, he'll go, 'That is such an Elizabeth move,'" says Heather.

Heather says they haven't taken a family photo since Elizabeth died, but they hope to get the courage to take one this year.

Most importantly, they want justice.

"They died an awful death, and justice needs to be served."

All they can do now is continue to wait.
