GRANT COUNTY, Wis. (KWWL) -

A 48-year-old man died early this morning when two large bales of hay came off a goose neck trailer, causing a collision.

The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. on Highway 61 and Circle Road in North Lancaster Township in Grant County, Wisconsin.

The Grant Co. Sheriff says Donald Martin was pulling a goose neck trailer hauling hay, but the load was not secure.  Two large round bales fell off in the southbound lane of Highway 61.

48-year-old Robert Kuhn of Fennimore struck one of the bales, then crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic.  Another driver, 42-year-old Nathan Harris of Lancaster collided with Kuhn's vehicle head-on.  Kuhn died at the scene, while Harris was taken to a hospital in Madison.

Donald Martin, who was hauling the hay, was not involved in the accident and left the area, but was located later.

The incident is still under investigation.
