CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The Linn County Sheriff's Office is asking for help in finding an inmate that failed to return from work release.

James Robert Gaines, 26, was serving a 300-day sentence for contempt and violation of a no contact order. He was let out at 9 a.m. Monday on a court ordered work search and was supposed to return at 3 p.m., but never did.

Gaines is a black male, 5'11" tall and weighs 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, white tennis shoes, a light colored sweater, black and gray coat, and a tan stocking cap.

If you have any information on Gaines, contact the Linn County Sheriff's Office at 319-892-6100 or the Cedar Rapids Police Department at 319-286-5491.
