Vandals force Western Dubuque High School to close

Posted: Updated:
DUBUQUE COUNTY (KWWL) - Classes were canceled at Western Dubuque High School on Monday after vandals flooded about a dozen classrooms.

Superintendent Jeff Corkery says sometime over the weekend, vandals broke out a window in a classroom on the south side of the school in Epworth. Once they got inside, they turned on a faucet.  The water ran until someone discovered it early Monday morning.

One to two inches of water filled several classrooms.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call the Dubuque County Sheriff's Office.

Superintendent Corkery says he anticipates classes will be held on Tuesday.

KWWL's Brad Hanson is getting a look at the damage. He'll have a full report tonight on KWWL.
