Ruth Mabon and her daughter Tange Kole, also known as the 'Fleece Fairies' have made over 1,500 fleece scarves and 200 fleece blankets in the last three years.
"A warm blanket can be the difference between not waking up the next morning and waking up," Kole said.
All scarves and blankets are able to find their way into the hands of those who need them most with the help of Tange's daughter, Grace Kole who is the Development Director at the Salvation Army of Waterloo and Cedar Falls.
"I can't sit down and watch television and do nothing, so this gives me something to do and its a worthy cause," Mabon said.
The price of all the scarves and blankets are covered by the 'Fleece Fairies.'
"If we can help in anyway that's good, we have the ability to help, so why not?" Mabon said.
Mabon and Kole plan to continue making fleece scarves and blankets for others as long as they're able to.
