Cyclone wrestlers fall to Oklahoma State

Posted: Updated:
AMES (KWWL) -  Iowa State fell behind in the lower weights, and the #8 Cyclones couldn't recover as they fell to #7 Oklahoma State 20-15.

After dropping 5 of the first 8 matches, the Cowboys took a 17-9 lead in to the 197 pound match. Iowa State, however, quickly got back in to the meet after top ranked Kyven Gadson threw Luke Bean on underhooks, putting him on his back. Moments later, Gadson picked up the second period fall, pulling the Cyclones within 2 of Oklahoma State.

ISU's Quean Smith gave a spirited effort at heavyweight, but fell just short of upsetting 5th ranked Austin Marsden. Marsden escaped with a 4-3 decision to clinch the meet for the Cowboys.
