WATERLOO (KWWL) -

What a difference a day makes. It seems as if Mother Nature can't make up her mind.

Nicole Lehmann of Cedar Falls says, "yesterday I was wearing shorts and flip-flops..and then today I have sweatpants and boots on."

This morning's weather was a much different pace than yesterday. Winter has returned and it brought back snow, ice and slushy streets.

Some Iowans like Anne Sherwood like it this way. She says, " I love Iowa winter. The snow and cold don't really bother me."

..But others are ready for spring.

Skylar Dabney of Cedar Falls says, "I want to play outside when it won't be so cold."

His father, Ryan Dabney says, "We've been so spoiled the last few weeks and then today it's kind of starting winter all over again. It was definitely a change. You could see people slipping all over the intersections."

Those slick spots caused some headaches for drivers. Rene Zahnd from Can-Am Towing in Waterloo had a very busy morning. When I met her, she was dropping off a car from a weather-related accident.

Rene says, "People just need to slow down and take their time getting to places. As long as they do that, everything will be great this winter.

So, whether you like it, or hate it...this is winter time in the Midwest.

As Nicole says, " January in Iowa..What can you do?"
