Cyclones stunned by Texas Tech 78-73

LUBBOCK, Texas (KWWL) -

Monte Morris scored 20 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome a poor shooting performance as 9th ranked Iowa State would get upset 78-73 at Texas Tech.

The Cyclones shot just 19.4% from the 3-point line and 42.9% overall from the floor.

Iowa State, however, fell just short of mounting a miraculous rally in the final 2 minutes. Texas Tech led 72-62 at that point, but Iowa State, aided by a pair of traditional 3 point plays and a banked 3 pointer from Georges Niang, cut the gap to 3 in the final seconds. The Cyclones' Morris got off a clean 3 pointer with 5 seconds to go, but the potential game tying shot clanged harmlessly off the front of the rim.

Devaughntah Williams led the way for the Red Raiders with 22 points in the contest. The win was the first for Texas Tech over a top 10 team since 2009.
