Warm weather at Winterfest in the Amana Colonies

Posted: Updated:
AMANA (KWWL) - Warm weather, temperatures in the 40s, isn't what you would expect from an event called "Winterfest" but that's what Mother Nature brought to the event in the Amana Colonies.

A children's ice rink got mushy and the ice sculptures started melting pretty quickly.

But the higher temperatures meant people didn't have to bundle up and some event-goers say they welcomed the warmer weather.

"We thought it would be fun," said Timothy Bahr, who lives in Iowa City. "Our friends called us and told us what was going on. I have two girls, a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old and it's just fun activities for the kids."

The festival also included activities geared toward adults like the Wine and Beer Walk of the brewery and wineries in the Amana Colonies.
