Iowa Head Coach Fran McCaffery takes issue with ESPN analyst

Posted: Updated:

Iowa head basketball coach Fran McCaffery took issue to comments made by ESPN Basketball analyst Dan Dakich about Hawkeye Center Adam Woodbury during the television broadcast of the 25th ranked Hawkeyes' loss to #6 Wisconsin on Tuesday night. During the game Woodbury poked Wisconsin players Nigel Page and Frank Kaminsky in their eyes on different occasions. After the second incident Dakich made these comments about Woodbury.."

"If I were Bo Ryan I would send that video to the league office. "There is no rhyme or reason for that. That is complete garbage.
"When you do that, you are doing that on purpose to a completely defenseless player. It is one thing (when) you and I go up for a rebound and I knock you and whatever
"But you've got the basketball and you are completely defenseless. And it is gutless as well. And he is doing it on purpose. You can say he's not and everybody can get mad at me all you want but he's doing it on purpose and it needs to stop and the Big Ten office needs to discipline the kid."

When McCaffery found out about Dakich's comments he told a Cedar Rapids newspaper reporter that Dakich had crossed the line and Woodbury would never do that intentionally.
