IOWA CITY (KWWL) - The weather across is eastern Iowa has warmed up enough to temporarily close some outdoor skating rinks.

The skating areas at two parks in Iowa City will be closed until further notice. That's the City Park pond and the lake at Terry Trueblood Recreation Area.

The Parks office is closing the areas to skaters because the ice will not be safe to skate on.

Both skating areas will re-open after the temperature drops and there's enough time for the rinks to re-freeze to a thickness that is safe for skating.
