Wendy's removes pop as option on kids' menu

Wendy's has removed pop as an option from its kids' menus.

The fast-food chain is the most recent to remove pop from their children's menus.

Parents won't see carbonated drinks as an option on the menu board inside the restaurant or at the drive-thru, but if they decide to order one for a child, they won't be turned down.

Wendy's began removing pop as an option on its kids' menu from some of its locations last fall.

The Center for Science in Public Interest released a statement Thursday announcing the move and applauding Wendy's.

It also said Wendy's could further improve its menu by serving "whole grain rolls, offering more fruit and vegetable options, reducing sodium across the menu, and dropping Frosties from the children's menu."

McDonald's agreed in 2013 to drop pop from its Happy Meal menus. Its policy goes into effect this year, leaving Burger King as the only big three burger chain with pop in meals for children.

Subway, Chipotle, Arby's and Panera don't include pop as an option in their kids' meals.
