A study by financial advisory firm PwC finds moviegoers are fed up with high ticket prices.

According to the study, 50 percent say the reason they don't go see more movies in theaters is because it costs too much, while 30 percent say they prefer to watch movies on their own schedule.

Meanwhile, 87 percent across all demographics said they'd be attracted to some kind of subscription plan, allowing them to pay a set fee for an unlimited number of movies.

According to the National Association of Theater Owners, the average ticket price was more than $8 from January to September in 2014.
