LINN COUNTY (KWWL) -

A Mount Vernon was seriously injured in a crash on Highway 30 this morning.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office says 59-year-old Thomas Carter of Mount Vernon was headed east on Highway 30 near Palisades State Park at around 11:46 a.m. when he lost control of his car. The car went into the ditch, rolled over and then came to rest on its wheels.

Sergeant Harvey Hall says Carter was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids by Lifeguard Air Ambulance to be treated for what appeared to be serious injuries.

Hall says Carter was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.

The accident remains under investigation.
