Mixed feelings on impending presidential visit

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) - "I think it's an honor to have our president stop by whether you're a supporter or not," says Cedar Falls business owner Gretchen Beam. "It's a big deal to have that national exposure in our community with our cyber net."

It's not just about President Obama coming to town.

"Cedar Falls is always a looked-passed town," says Blake Argotsinger.

It's about having a president in eastern Iowa, period.

"I love Cedar Falls, I grew up here and came back to it because it's small and quaint but it has a lot of things to offer, so it's great to get some recognition for the great things that are going on," Argotsinger said.

But not everyone feels that way.

"I'm not really excited, no. I'm not really happy with what Obama has done so far," says Jean Martinez.

Martinez says, for him, Wednesday will be a normal day.

But for fifth graders at Hansen Elementary, Obama's visit makes their school projects a little more exciting: They're studying presidents.

Bailey Hartwig knows all about Obama, and his visit is very important to her.

"I think that it's important that everyone has high-speed Internet. That's just, like, a daily need," she says.

But she hopes he has a little time for fun, too.

"He might get hungry or something and go to a shop, and make it famous!" Hartwig said.
