CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Hunters took 122 deer during the 2014-15 Cedar Rapids Urban Deer Management Program bow hunt season which ended on January 10.

According to statistics released today, 37 of the 74 eligible bow hunters bagged at least one deer. One hunter took eight deer and 10 other hunters took at least five. Of the 122 deer that were taken, 112 were does, seven were button bucks and three were antlered bucks. The city says 171 deer were taken in the 2013-14 urban bow hunt. Seventeen of the deer were donated to programs that help feed residents of Linn County. The rest were kept by the hunters for personal consumption.

The city says they have seen a 57% reduction in the number of deer killed on Cedar Rapids roadways since the program began in 2004.
