Cyclones jump 6 spots to #11

Posted: Updated:
AMES (KWWL) -  Spurred by a pair of wins to open the Big 12 season, the Iowa State basketball team jumped 6 spots, up to #11 in this week's Associated Press poll.

The Cyclones (12-2) opened the week with a tough 63-61 home win over Oklahoma State. The Cowboys entered the polls on Monday at #24. ISU followed that up with a physical win at #14 West Virginia, in a game where 50 total personal fouls were called. It's a victory that Coach Fred Hoiberg called a turning point for his team.

Just mentally finding a way to get through that on the road is huge,” said Hoiberg, “It's a huge step in the right direction for us, because if you can find a way to win on the road through adversity, that will certainly give you confidence down the road.”

Iowa State travels to #22 Baylor on Wednesday.
