CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A Haitian hospital is about to re-open after a devastating earthquake -- and Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids donated money to help it happen.

It's been five years since a massive earthquake devastated Haiti, killing thousands of people and destroying many buildings.

The earthquake ruined most of St. Francis de Sales Hospital in Port-Au-Prince.

This week the hospital will re-open in a new, modern facility thanks to donations.

The Catholic Health Association of the United States raised money to help reconstruct the hospital and member organizations, including Mercy Medical Center, donated more than $10.1 million. Mercy gave $3,000.

Officials will dedicate the 200-bed hospital on January 15.
