Iowa Women whip Purdue 73-59

 The 17th-ranked Iowa women's basketball team bounced back from a loss at Illinois last week to post a 73-59 victory over Purdue in front of 7,359 fans Sunday afternoon at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

 Iowa won with its defense. The Hawkeyes' zone limited the Boilermakers to 34.5 percent shooting, had 11 steals, and forced 18 turnovers. Iowa turned the miscues into 20 points. 

The Hawkeyes shot 42.6 percent from the field for the game; making 26-of-61 attempts, and went 17-of-19 from the free throw stripe. Iowa had 17 assists on its 26 field goals.

Hawkeye senior Melissa Dixon scored a game high 18 points while Ally Disterhoft finished with 17.  Dixon was honored after the game for becoming the Hawkeye career leader in made three pointers.
