CDC: Six Americans die from alcohol poisoning daily

Posted: Updated:

New research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests that six people die everyday as a result of alcohol poisoning; that adds up to more than 2,200 deaths a year.

This information comes from death certificate data gathered from 2010 to 2012; researchers found that most of the deaths were in adults between ages 35 and 64. They found that 75% of those who die were men, and nearly 70% were white.

The CDC says the research indicates that more needs to be done to stop binge drinking.
