BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL) -

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office is asking people to stay off the roads if possible Monday.

Sheriff Tony Thompson is calling this a "pretty significant snow event."

He says they plan to have at least five people on patrol, with eight to 10 people out overnight Monday night.

He says they are prepared, and it's their obligation to help whoever needs it.

"We'll be out," Thompson said. "We'll be helping people and trying to define strong routes and keeping people safe out on the roadways tonight, but we certainly don't want to have people out their adding or compounding the problems."
