DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The Dubuque Fighting Saints beat the Waterloo Black Hawks 4-2 Saturday night to give them their 5th straight win.

It took just over a minute for the Saints to get on the board.  Evan Smith netted his 4th goal of the season to give the Saints a quick 1-0 lead.

Waterloo tied it up at 1-1 early in the second period.

In the third, Gordie Green scored for the Saints to put them up 2-1.

Waterloo tied it up four minutes later on a Tom Novak goal.

Willie Knierim scored the deciding goal for Dubuque halfway through the third to give them the 3-2 lead.  Nathan Sucese hit an empty-net goal late in the period to cement the win.

Dubuque goaltender Gavin Nieto turned away 31 shots from Waterloo.

With the win, the Saints improve to 19-7-2, with 40 points.  They sit just four points behind rival Cedar Rapids, who the Saints beat Friday night.

The Saints are in Sioux Falls Friday for their next game.  They return home Saturday night to face Lincoln.
