An man was charged for driving without insurance, after police say he crashed his car to avoid a deer.

It happened around 11 p.m. on New Years Eve. The Jo Daviess Co. Sheriff's Office says Mark Vacval was driving his car near the town of Elizabeth, Illinois when he swerved to miss a deer. He then struck a guardrail and rolled his car, according to authorities.

Vacval, who is 47, was taken to the hospital in Galena, where he was treated and released.

The accident is still under investigation.
