DUBUQUE (KWWL) - The first baby of 2015 and newest eastern Iowan was born Thursday morning in Dubuque.

Eliana Pearl Hopper was born at Unity Point Health-Finley Hospital at 12:44 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, to Ashley Hantelmann and Eric Hopper.

She weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces at birth.

In Waterloo, Covenant Medical Center claimed the first Waterloo baby of 2015 with a baby boy born more than 12 hours after midnight, at 12:52 p.m. Thursday.
